| JAMES MORRISON www.jamesmorrison.com.au |

James Morrison is, by anybody’s standard, a virtuoso in the true sense of the word.
Besides the trumpet, this multi-instrumentalist also plays trombone, euphonium, flugel horn, tuba, saxophones, and piano.
At the age of seven, he was given his first instrument, at nine he formed his first band and at thirteen he was playing professionally in nightclubs. His international career developed just as quickly. At only age 16 James debuted in the USA with a breathtaking concert at the Monterey Jazz Festival.
Following this were performances at the big festivals in Europe including Montreaux, Pori, North Sea, Nice and Bern - playing with many of the legends

of jazz. Dizzy Gillespie, Cab Calloway, Woody Shaw, Red Rodney, George Benson, Ray Charles, B.B. King, Ray Brown and Wynton Marsalis to name a few. There were also gigs in the worlds most famous jazz clubs - The Blue Note and Village Vanguard in New York, the New Morning in Paris and Ronnie Scotts in London.
Now 46, James Morrison’s career thus far has been diverse and perhaps not typical of most jazz musicians. He recorded Jazz Meets the Symphony with The London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Lalo Schifrin, performed concerts at the Royal Albert hall with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden for Princess Anne. Royal command performances on two occasions for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and for US Presidents Bush & Clinton at Parliament House in Australia. In 1997, James was recognised for his service to the arts in Australia and awarded a medal of The Order of Australia.. |

| ANDY FIRTH www.andyfirthmusic.com |
|
Clarinettist and saxophonist Andy Firth was born and grew up in Port Augusta in country South Australia where, from age five, he set his mind to becoming one of the best clarinet players in the world after hearing jazz legends Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Don Burrows and Buddy DeFranco on his father’s records.
Andy has undoubtedly achieved his goal and in March 2008 he became one of only a handful of Australian artists to be invited to perform under his own name at Carnegie Hall, where he received a standing ovation for his “Goodman & Beyond” concert.
Andy’s guest artist for this “clarinet history making” event (World Clarinet Organisation review 2008) was none other than the legend himself, Buddy DeFranco.
|
Andy is also a talented composer, arranger and educator with 500 compositions to his credit and an award for television music, (Australian Screen Music Awards, 2002).
He began performing professionally aged 14, and at 17 appeared on national television with Don Burrows where he quickly became known as a leading Australian jazz artist.
Now based in Newcastle, Andy continues to perform and teach and is a celebrated exponent of the clarinet both in Australia and overseas.
Such is his talent, he has a clarinet and saxophone book series with music publishing company Boosey & Hawkes and has a clarinet mouthpiece series named after him, “The Andy Firth Jazz Model”- (Lomax Classic Mouthpieces, USA).
In 2006, Andy was awarded a Mo Award as best live Australian jazz artist and in 2007, UK big band company Lushlife Music gave Andy his own big band arrangement series.
Andy’s arrangements are now sold throughout the UK and USA.
Ironically, Andy rarely has the opportunity to return to South Australia to perform because of his busy international diary and teaching and performing schedule in NSW. |

THE FISHBOWL BOYS www.fishbowlboys.com |
|
|
The Fishbowl Boys are young, energetic, highly visual, and deliver with a generous measure of tight harmonies and humour. In a freak of nature, these four not only work together beautifully on and off stage; they produce a big full sound you have to hear to believe.
Barbershop is a traditional American 4-part harmony a capella style. Much of The Fishbowl Boys’ repertoire reflects Barbershop origins with short snappy tunes from the the early 1900?s-1920?s, with the addition of some great songs from America in the 60?s and beyond. This National award-winning South Australian group keeps the tradition alive with great flair, individual touches and toe tapping musicianship. |
